Sunset over 2006

Sunset over 2007 by Ed O'Keeffe

I was just changing to head out to a New Years Eve party. Looking out of my bedroom window I saw a wonderful sunset over towards Hale and Altrincham. I grabbed my camera but I obviously didn’t get chance to set up my tripod or monopod. Its not the best photograph but it was a lovely sunset to end the year. Today was very windy, stormy and raining for the most of the day. I am looking forward to 2007 and hopefully will develop my photography and website throughout the next year. Enjoy your evening and have a happy new year.

Tree Branch Patterns with Plane Trail

Tree Branch Patterns with Orange Plane Trail against Blue Sky by Ed O'Keeffe

Sky photos always interest me and living near a busy international airport most of my life I have seen a lot of great views of nice skies with interesting plane trail patterns in the sky. This one isn’t the most interesting by a long shot but I felt that the winter branches coupled with the orange plane trail looked interesting enough to publish. It is often the case with photography that we walk past potential photo opportunities every day of our lives, if only we had walk by and seen the subject from a slightly different angle we might have seen the photo in our minds. This photo was taken back in January 2006, nearly twelve months ago (how time flies) and I was going to be ten minutes early to meet a friend so rather than hanging around outside his house till he was available I just walked slower and took my time and found this photograph by simply looking a little more at my surroundings, you never know what you might find!

Belle Vue Dog Races

Winning Gray Hounds at Belle Vue Dog Races by Ed O'Keeffe

Yesterday I spent the day at Belle Vue Dog Races with Claire and her family. It was a very enjoyable day and although the weather wasn’t as good as last year’s visit I found the new camera equipment made for much better photos. I still found it very challenging due to the animals being so small and the spped that they run. I think to get really top quality photos you would need to go on a sunny summers day with a much faster lens that I can’t afford! You will never hear somebody saying Sports Photography equipment is cheap. But, never the less, I feel the camera performed very well considering it was handheld and not on a monopod.
